Last updated on 10 September 2026

The website www.denhollander.info is operated by Uitgeverij Den Hollander B.V. (hereinafter "Den Hollander", "we", "us" or "our"). When using the website, we may process privacy-sensitive data, also referred to as personal data. In this statement (hereinafter "Privacy Statement") we would like to inform you about the way in which your personal data is processed by Den Hollander.

This Privacy Statement applies as of 19 August 2025 and replaces previous versions, in which we also informed you about the processing of your personal data.

General

Your privacy is of great importance to Den Hollander. We therefore comply with the relevant laws and regulations on privacy, including the General Data Protection Regulation (hereinafter "GDPR"). This means that we:

  • Clearly state our purposes before we process your personal data, through this privacy statement;
  • Store as little personal data as possible, and only the data needed for our purposes;
  • Explicitly ask for your consent to process your personal data, if consent is required;
  • Take the necessary security measures to protect your personal data. We also impose these obligations on parties that process personal data on our behalf;
  • Respect your rights, such as the right to access, correct or delete your personal data processed by us.

Your data is safe with us and we will always handle it properly. In this privacy statement we explain what Den Hollander does with information we learn about you. If you have any questions, please contact us. You will find our current contact details at the end of this Privacy Statement.

Your account

To gain access to certain parts of our website, you must first register. You will then need to provide information about yourself and choose a username. This creates an account, which gives you access to a restricted online portal. For this we use the following data from you:

  • Your e-mail address
  • Your chosen password

We need this data in order to provide the services you requested (gaining access to the restricted portal). Without this data we cannot properly perform our services (and thus the agreement we have with you). We store this information so that you do not have to fill it in again every time you want to access the portal, and so that we can more easily reach you if necessary. You can change information via your account whenever you want. If you close your account, we will delete your data within a maximum of 14 days.

Use of the (restricted) portal

After registering an account, you can log in to the portal where you can configure various settings yourself. We keep track of what you have done and when, so that there is evidence of this.

For this we use the following data:

  • Your e-mail address
  • Your chosen password

In addition, we process a number of data items to secure the portal against unauthorised access and to ensure that the content is displayed correctly. For this we use:

  • The IP address of your device
  • Other technical information about your device (such as the web browser, operating system, screen resolution and installed fonts)

Optionally, you can also add the following data via your account for a more personalised user experience. This concerns the following data:

  • Your chosen profile picture

We need this data in order to provide the services you requested (gaining access to the restricted portal). Without this data we cannot properly perform our services (and thus the agreement we have with you). If you close your account, we will delete your data within a maximum of 14 days.

Taking out a subscription

Via the portal you can take out one (or more) paid subscription(s), for which we use your personal data to process the order. For this we use your:

  • Name and address details
  • Phone number
  • Billing address
  • E-mail address
  • Payment details

We need this because of the agreement we enter into with you. Without this data, we cannot bill you for the subscription and we cannot stay in contact with you. We store this information for up to six months after you cancel the subscription. We store certain customer data for longer in connection with the statutory tax retention obligation.

Contact form

Our website has a contact form. Through this contact form you can ask us questions or make requests. You can also e-mail us directly at info@denhollander.info. To handle your question or request we use your:

  • Name
  • Phone number
  • E-mail address
  • Information you provide yourself via the contact form or in your e-mail

Without this data we cannot handle your question or request. We therefore have a legitimate interest in processing this data. Depending on the nature of your question or request, we sometimes also need the data to properly perform the agreement we have with you. We store the information until we are certain you are satisfied with our response, and for three months thereafter. This allows us to easily retrieve the information for follow-up questions. It also allows us to train our customer service to become even better.

Advertisements

In principle, our website does not display advertisements. We do not keep personal data about you in order to target advertisements to your interests.

Disclosure to other companies or institutions

To provide our services, we work together with a number of suppliers. Your personal data may also end up with these suppliers. These suppliers may only process your data under strict conditions. We have made contractual agreements with these suppliers about this. The suppliers are explicitly not permitted to use your personal data for their own purposes, but only within the framework of the services they provide to Den Hollander.

When using the website, your personal data may be shared with the following suppliers (also referred to as 'processors'):

  • Microsoft — Hosting of the website (based in Ireland)
  • Mollie — Processing of payments via the website (based in the Netherlands)

With the exception of the parties needed to provide the services mentioned above, we do not pass on your personal data to other companies or institutions, except where we are legally obliged to do so (for example if the police require this on suspicion of a crime).

International transfers

Some of our suppliers process your data outside the European Economic Area (EEA). When sharing your personal data with these parties, we take appropriate safeguards to protect your privacy.

The European Commission has established an adequacy decision for 15 countries. Based on an adequacy decision, personal data can be safely transferred from the EEA to companies in these countries, without additional data protection safeguards being required.

If we share data with companies in other countries without an adequacy decision (or US companies that do not fall under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework), we take additional protective measures in the form of so-called appropriate safeguards. This means that we take extra action to protect your personal data. Among other things, we use standard contractual clauses ("SCCs") for this.

When we transfer your personal data to parties outside the EEA on the basis of SCCs, you have the following rights:

  • Request information about the transfer, including a copy of the SCCs.
  • Contact both us and the receiving party for information.
  • File complaints with the receiving party, the Dutch Data Protection Authority, a competent court in the EEA, or an independent dispute resolution body.
  • Claim damages in the event of a breach of the SCCs.

These rights exist alongside your general privacy rights under the GDPR.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies. Cookies are small files in which we can store information, so that you do not have to fill it in again and again. They also allow us to recognise that you are visiting us again. You can disable the placement of cookies via your browser, but some functions of our website may then no longer work properly.

We only use so-called 'functional cookies' that ensure our portal works properly. These cookies ensure, for example, that we can remember which account you are logged in with, so that you do not have to log in again every time you refresh the portal or click on a new (sub)page.

Security

The security of personal data is of great importance to us. We ensure that your data is well protected with us. We continuously adjust our security measures and pay close attention to what could go wrong.

Changes to this privacy statement

When our website changes, we naturally also have to update the privacy statement. Please always check the date above and check regularly for new versions. We will do our best to communicate any changes to you.

Your rights

If you have questions or want to know which personal data we have about you, you can always contact us. See the contact details below.

You have the following rights:

  • To receive an explanation of which personal data we have and what we do with it
  • To inspect the exact personal data we have
  • To have errors corrected
  • To have outdated personal data deleted
  • To have personal data transferred to another party
  • To withdraw consent
  • To restrict a particular processing
  • To object to a particular use

Please note that you must always clearly indicate who you are, so that we can be sure that we are not changing or deleting the data of the wrong person.

We will in principle respond to your request within one month. This period may, however, be extended for reasons related to the specific rights of data subjects or the complexity of the request. If we extend this period, we will inform you in good time.

Filing a complaint

If you wish to file a complaint about the use of your personal data, you can send an e-mail to info@denhollander.info. We handle every complaint internally and will communicate further with you about it.

If you feel that we have not helped you in the right way, you have the right to file a complaint with the supervisory authority. This is called the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
